Governor Greg Abbott announced an hour ago that he officially declared an invasion at the southern border today and he's going to begin repelling it. He sent a letter to Joe Biden and declared that he's sending troops to the border and they are building a wall, deploying razor wire and marine barriers to protect his state from the Mexican drug cartels since Biden won't do it: He wrote: "The federal government's failure has forced me to invoke Article I, § 10, Clause 3 of the U.S. Constitution, thereby enabling the State of Texas to protect its own territory against invasion by the Mexican drug cartels."

Alderman Mosley was trying to assure people that an empty lot slated to become housing was not going to become a tent camp for migrants. He said it didn't seem likely to happen now but couldn't rule it out in the future. But the highlight of this meeting came when a local resident asked why this was allowed to happen: "Why can't we close the borders of Chicago or the state of Illinois in the first place? Why can't we close the border?" Alderman Mosley did his best to blame Gov. Abbott but was forced to admit it was the federal government making the decisions.

I lived in NYC during covid. A lot of people TRIED to resist the face diaper / clot shots, but the city essentially deputized a bunch of city employees from every department to be snitches.
They went to every restaurant / bar / store, made sure they were enforcing mask mandates and vaccine card mandates.
And the ones who did not were fined. Some got multiple warnings, some just got their liquor licenses pulled.
So they basically forced small business owners to be their enforcers.
It was a very unpleasant time for everyone. I felt genuinely bad for my local bartenders / restaurant employees (and their bosses). They didn't sign up for that shit.

Right idea, totally wrong implementation.
What we need is at least 6400 acres. That's ten square miles. It should be near the border and filled with Quonset huts for temporary housing, eating and court facilities. Some of the huts are special, high-speed immigration courts. Judges in those courts are expected to adjudicate six cases per hour, eight hours per day. Install 1,000 no-nonsense or even hateful new judges to move the throughput to 48,000 cases per day. Only true political repression is cause for an asylum claim. "Fear" or cartels or economics are *not* cause.
Any illegal alien regardless of location captured is immediately sent to the camp, where he awaits adjudication in a first-in, first-out queue. The camp is secured by the military. After rapid adjudication, the alien is either released into the United States with his papers or he is shunted to a deportation queue. Deported aliens are flown to any Latin American country south of El Salvador and discharged. The repatriation is secured by US military forces.

I served in the military. I respect what was the military. I think conservatives put way, way, way too much faith in the military and military personnel.
I'm pretty sure that in today's military, the vast majority of both officers and enlisted will follow orders - even if it is against American citizens. That would not have been true 20 years ago or more - but today's military is quite different - by leftists design.

Actually, Abbott has placed numerous barriers at the border, both land and water. We've discussed them here from time to time. Judges have ruled against them in all cases.

Illegal immigration routes into Texas skirt the Chihuahuan desert. Routes to NM, Arizona and California means traveling through both the Chihuahuan and Sonoran deserts. The route to Texas is perilous but the other routes are considerably more so.

I live in Las Cruces, NM. From personal experience and from talking to somewhat recently retired Border Patrol agents the New Mexico border lively but not to the extent seen at Eagle Pass or El Paso. In LC there is a shelter that is seeing increased warehousing of illegals mostly from El Paso and is prepared to ramp up to 1,000 or so. Ranchers that live along the border are getting infiltrated on a near daily basis by people dressed in camo as evidenced by news reports and the piles of gear collected by the ranchers and plunked down along the rural roads. The NM border has mobile US military electronic stations set up that support the BP agents that you see chasing around in desert, lights flashing, rounding them up by the dozens. Personally I have watched illegals come through the border wall gap in Sunland Park who are then chased down by the BP, I have seen groups of them trying to get rides by hitchhiking, or BP escorting groups of Illegals back to Mexico at the Columbus, NM crossing. Then there are the captures at the internal check points.

I mean locally in Texas if Abbott follows all the way through the dems are completely toast in Texas. No one likes it, especially large numbers of hispanic voters who are increasingly looking to the right for answers, and for whom marriage is a big deal. And we all know how married women vote - and it isn't for democrats.

It totally depends. Texas authorities can stop them from getting to the border. That's simple, the question is what would bite me do. And what would Garland do? And would Paxton take the opportunity to issue arrest warrants for Garland? You see, when the left started throwing away centuries of political decorum, there was always the danger that the right would take them up on that. And the right controls significantly more territory than the left. I wish those commie bastards would have thought about that before we started down this path.
